THE RANCHWELL FIELD LESSONS

Choose the pasture route

You and an adult plan a walk. The short way crosses a working cattle pen. Another route goes around it.

LOOK. THINK. CHOOSE.Try the situation

YOUR TURN

Which plan should you choose?

Choose what you would do. Every choice has a reason.

TAKE THIS WITH YOU

Three habits.
A safer day.

01

Make a route plan.

Avoid working cattle, moving machines, ponds, and pits.

02

Know your shelter.

Pick a sturdy enclosed building with electricity or plumbing, or an enclosed metal-roof car or truck with windows closed.

03

Tell someone.

Agree where you will go and when you will return. Change the plan if weather changes.

ONE MORE SITUATION

You hear thunder on your walk. The tools are still outside. What now?

BRING IT HOME

Make the safe choices.

Try both situations. Then share what you learned.
